Well, to b honest, my adulation 4 things western, especially the USA, has dropped a lot over the last decade.
I used to think that it is BIG DEAL to win an Oscars or a Nobel prize. Over the years as I grew older n worldly wise, i realised it is mainly abt who buy you! or your stuffs! Sometimes it is just: "I like you n your work!" Sometimes it is just: "Hmm. I got some benefits fr u. So why not i just endorse u n your work " or whatever the reasons or excuses maybe!
E.g. could an African American had win an Oscars earlier? could an Asian or non-American had won an Oscars earlier? Not just any Oscars but the so-called BIG ONES like leading actor/actress, best movie, best director, best original scripts etc.
Still, it is only right to applaud Mr Bong n his team 4 their achievements as he had been making movies 4 20+yrs. N his team of actors/actresses, script writers, etc., etc. had worked faithfully n hard at their passion n chosen craft. Winning any Oscars is a BIG DEAL 4 them. So let's just bask in the celebratory moods n soak in all the happiness one felt is once in a life time thingy!
Will fortune follows this fame. N will the people breakouts fr the heavy expectations of more awards winning creation n performances? I hope so. They need to work harder n smarter to continue to b in the limelight. It can b intoxicating. N it can also b very cruel n real when the effect of intoxication wear off, reality will b as hard n cold as b4 fame n fortune struck!!
