Of ALL the offenders n breakers of law who were subsequently put on trial n convicted, one of the worst kinds is those who "should hv known better than to commit the crime" n "in position of public trust". These convicted criminals should b punished double the max penalties provided by the laws.
There can b no mercy even if the convicted had truly repented as they must face the consequences of their actions.
If they survive the sentences meted out by the courts of laws, they can then show through their behaviours that they had indeed changed 4 the better on a consistent n sustainable manner.
It is like the tormented Catholic Church preachers who preyed on young followers of the faith that shadowed it 4 so many years as the Church refuses to see it as it is: a hideous crime against young people that can scarred the victims 4 life!!
