"Inchcape sending expats to downsized S'pore office to downsized Sgp office The Straits Times | Sunday, Jan 29, 2017"

If this news is true, it will be a very sad day for local talents in Sgp! A country where it touts all kinds of world measurement as having the best PITA score, best universities, etc. N where 2 decades ago, local talents like Koh Boon HuiYu of HP, John Wong of IBM, LIM Soon Hock of Compaq, etc. were helming the Asia Pacific roles. What hv given such that the UK HQ has to send 2 expats, n more if the anonymous source is real n correct, to downsized the Sgp office n takes on regional roles?

A few years back when the voters were very unhappy with the massive influx of foreign workers at all levels, the debates were abt if we should regulate them. In recent years, I was debating if we keep having expats to helm regional roles, could it be our local talents hv really regressed so much that the learning n development we had gained in the Koh, Wong n Lim's era r forever lost? Or we can only hv local talents helming GIC-, TLC- or NTUC-LINKED companies n NOT MNCs?

If true, Sgp better wake up to the delusional halo effect n get back to building local talents who can helm regional roles! We still hv some in the MNCs space but we need more! Can we? Do we have them?

Or the best (book smart) r all in the civil services n government?
