Was not going to comment on this saga. Yet, I feel compelled to on alternative language to the 2 miniters' words.

We hv shared with China that we had a bilateral arrangement with Taiwan that allows our military personnel to train there due to the constraints of our terrains. We r grateful that China was OK with it. We will strive to understand what has changed to avoid any possible misunderstanding between our two countries that had good n mutually beneficial relationship.
Let's meet to chat.
vs. 'Maybe we r too transparent. We call a spade a spade.' 'Surely the Chinese would know. . .', etc.
To say that there were no problem until now shows ignorance or disregard that China has changed? And that we need to understand what n why these changes occurred? No?
2. Minister of Defence
The tanks r in Hkg SAR custom area n we r trying to find out what are the concerns of the authority there. We will work with them n the contracted shipper to find out what need to be done to clear custom n move the tanks back to Sgp.
vs. we intend to exercise our full rights to claim our assets.
Did Hkg SAR informed us that they intend to keep the tanks or just trying to clear whatever concerns they hv abt the tanks?
The less say the better n work like crazy behind the scenes.
This, at least from an ordinary citizen, is how Chinese works. Unless of course they hv decided to mince u come hell or high water.
R the relationship that bad? If so, how did it get there so quickly when in 2015 we engineered the meeting between President Xi n President Ma in Sgp!!??!!
