Not sure what is happening with our nation lately as things r not exactly swelling though PM Lee had 3 great outings in the last few months with state dinner in the USA, meeting the Emperor in Tokyo n on penal of speakers in Lima, Peru, APEC meeting.
Despite these honourable treatments, one of our key friends, China, seems to be getting more n more unhappy with us. They seem unhappy abt our zealous push for the TPP excluding China. The repeated call for China to respect the South Sea issue though China had said from day 1 that it wants no part of it. The appeal (or exhortation) to China to respect the South Sea judgement in Tokyo "Future of Asia" seminar. And the speech that "no country can be the Middle Kingdom in these days n age" (factual but emotionally unpalatable to the PRC).
Now we hv this APCs been detained in Hkg SAR port saga!!
Not too good isn't it?
Let's c how both parties resolve this issue. Peace to Sgp though Malaysia n the Philippines don't hv to deal with mending relationship with China for now!! They seem to get along fine. A position Sgp used to occupy?
As for domestic front, nothing out of the ordinary except that slightly controversial Malay only EP thingy. Oh, also the slowing export trades n overall economic situation.
We r still on upgrade your skills n u will b fine or "better positioned" to keep working till u r dead or can afford to retirement in a high cost of living environment.
It will b business unusual going forward. Best of luck!!
