Daily Lessons from Life 30 July 2014 - Zhou Yongkang: oil man whose well of power finally ran dry

Ex-Minister of Public Security and ex-member of the all powerful Poliburo Standing Committee (PSC) of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had officially been charged for corruption. This is unprecedented as most of the retired senior officials are left alone after their so-called retirement. The Chinese presses said he and his family supposedly amassed a wealth of more than US$90B!

Lessons for me are:

1. why would one want so much money? Even if he uses Rmb100, which is the biggest denominated bank notes, to wipe his 'backside' after doing his dirty business, he will have a hard time using 1 million of them in his life time! LOL!!;

2. this action by President Xi will be applauded by many of the ordinary citizens of China though some will see this as just another 'cleaning up enemies internally' and not a truly serious anti-corruption drive aims to overhaul the systemic corruption that is endemic and killing the trust the people had with the CCP. For me, the series of actions that took place after President Xi's famous proclamation that the anti-corruption will take down the 'tigers' (high level officials) and the 'flies' (lower level officials) showed that he and his supporters are very serious about this. They probably know that to not be thorough will not be good enough for the citizens who truly got fed up with the inequality and abuses by the powerful. The powerful who got their powers from the people and yet were abusing the people!;

3. will this fundamental shake the whole system up at its core and that convince those who were giving up hope for a clean or cleaner government and CCP officials now have the hope and courage to dream that a clean or cleaner government is a POSSIBILITY! That the resources of the state are properly allocated and utilized for the benefit of the greatest number of people!

With Mr Zhou in the cross-hair, will his mentor, ex-President Jiang be the next to fall? It will be interesting to see how the whole thing rolls out and gets wrap-up.

This may well be the most pivotal moment in the history of modern China!

May true justice be served and that ordinary people get to live a simple, harmonious and unsuppressed lives without paying corrupt officials in China anymore! That may leads to the fulfilment of my China's Dream - that China is a place where the PRC Chinese will want to stay and NOT leave!
