Yes. Being in PRC from 23 Feb till this morning. Was overwhelmed with travel and work and, of course, the inability to scale the Great Fire Wall of China to write my blog.
So, a quick one before resuming regular blogging starting tomorrow again!
1. was in Yanggu, Shandong, PRC (try if you can find it on Google Map), a county 2.5 hours ride from Jinan, the Capital City of Shandong Province.
Amazed to see SOME many construction going on along the way from Jinan to Yanggu! I am not sure who are going to be occupying these residential and commercial, and some looks like industrial development! Scary!
2. even in this county, the sky is grey throughout my 5 days stay there. Some locals even commented that the underground water source CANNOT be drunk as it has been contaminated! Only bottled water are use. I am not sure, yes I know I am using this phrase quite often, if it makes any sense to be living in an environment where you cannot drink from the underground water source!
3. exciting to note that the learners in the classes seemed very interested to learn and asking lots of questions with appropriate prompting. I also witnessed the internal 'expatriates' from all over China being recruited to work in this county. Even for some of them from bigger cities in China, this place can be too simple and not easy to adapt too. Very much like some expats being relocated to some smaller cities in China a few years back!
4. Will try to read the Budget2014 and make some sense out of it before commenting more.
5. definitely interesting to read about the 'not guilty' charges against the ex-Associate Prof of Laws of NUS after the High Court's verdict. I wonder if the innocent accused, whose life is probably ruined if people has long memory, after the initial trial and verdict, can suit the government (CPIB) for wrongfully charging him? Maybe not?
I look forward to a wonderful week ahead and condolences to the families of the 57+ slain in Kunming Railway Station in China on Saturday by alleged Xinjiang separatists terrorists. President Xi has declared 'no negotiation with terrorists that kill innocent citizens and people. And that he has NO INTEREST to listen to anything from such terrorists and is determined to search and crash them without mercy! That seems to strike a cord with the general public. I agree that anyone who kill innocent people has NO LEGITIMACY to ask for anything. I know it is harsh but no one should negotiate with terrorists. Otherwise, there will be no ends.
