Daily Lessons from Life 25-26 March 2013 - Various ...

1. "Driver nabbed after high-speed chase from Punggol to Shenton Way - ST 26, March 2013 A 31-year old Singaporean driver had two police vehicles hot on his wheels in a 15km high-speed chase on Monday night, which spanned from around Punggol West to Shenton Way. He was eventually nabbed for driving while under disqualification, and for his rash act." I am glad that this 'idiot', and I meant it if what has been reported is true of him, did not kill ANY innocent road users in this real life car chase, which I rather not see after seeing the damages on his car after the chase. Does being older means one is wiser? Obviously NOT judging from this 31 years old IDIOT! 2. "My family won't let me die - Mar 26, 2013 The New Paper The doctors had advised them to accept that she was brain dead and to pull the plug on the life-support system, but Ms Suzanne Chin's loved ones could not give up. The Singaporean lawyer, who is in her late 40s, had fallen into a coma and had been declared brain dead by doctors in Hong Kong. But four days after her collapse, Ms Chin regained consciousness. Within a week, she was up and able to walk. In layman's term her survival and recovery is a miracle!" The brother is a medical doctor and was there when the doctors announced that she was brain dead. He said he could not have faulted the doctors who advised the family to turn off the life supporting system then. For me, it triggered the story I commented about the 'brain dead' young man getting dissected for his living organs to save others in need of organ transplants. Why was there not a 'miracle'? What if he too live when the doctors CANNOT be allowed to decide if he is 'brain dead' or not? It highlighted once more how difficult the decision to 'certify' if a fellow human being is brain dead and hence legally dead or not! A lot of emotional stresses if I am the one making that decision knowing that that PARTICULAR PERSON may have a 'miracle' IF I had not made the decide to harvest his or her organs to save others! How to make peace? That one death springs more than one new life? I will take that!! 3. "Bad parenting - AsiaOne 25 March 2013 For some people, becoming a parent is a blessing, a miracle, and hardwork that is rewarding. However, there are some who are simply not fit to be parents." This article goes on to display many unthinkable positions or things the parents put their kids through in real life! E.g. phyiscally dangling their kids in a dangerous postion or goating their kids to defaecate in public places that are unthinkably crude and very raw! Indeed, it may come a day when everyone must have 'how to be a parent?' compulsory trainingg and passsing the test before being allowewd to get married and have kids!! The most important nurturing ground is at home where parents as role models worked very well! Next comes the educational system where the 'soon-to-get-married-and-first-time-parents' MUST attend and PASS the assessment! When both helps complement each other, there is a higher chance that the kids have a chance of becoming good! Let's start the 'parents reformation training' NOW!!
