"Bersatu’s Johor chapter to Singaporeans: Ask your government to review water prices
JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor chapter of Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia on Wednesday (Mar 6) appealed to Singaporeans to urge their government to review the prices of the water deal with Malaysia, reiterating that the agreement is “morally wrong”.
The media director of Bersatu’s Johor chapter Mohd Solihan Badri was quoted as saying by Malay Mail: “Surely, your conscience will tell you that this is a raw deal for the people of Malaysia and especially Johoreans, many of whom may be your own family members.
“Do you not feel guilty that you are enjoying drinking water that you have bought so cheaply from your kin?
“I appeal to the people of Singapore to take cognisance of this fact and voice to their government how morally wrong it is to benefit from our goodwill through such a lopsided agreement.""
This is overstepping the line of ultimate disrespect!!
Dr M n his Bersatu colleagues r truly making a fool of themselves n person non-grata by trying to INFLUENCE Sgp people to question its own gov over a legally binding international agreement where "renegotiation rights" were provided n passed up by Msia gov!!
How would Dr M n his Bersatu colleagues feel if some Sgp politicians ask Msians to question your own gov? We didn't even do that during the very controversial gov of Najib out of respect for Msia n Msians!
If Msia is asking for a handout, it can be considered as long as the asking is sincere m with gratitude instead of an entitlement.
As the JB MB suggested a few days back that Johore is considering building its own water treatment plant so as not to rely on Sgp for clean treated water is strategic in intent n a progressive move. That is something JB gov n its good people can do. In this process, it will also learn abt the full cost of the treated water n reap the benefits if it can produce at lower than the price Sgp sell to Msia!!
So, focus on WHAT U CAN DO n stay out of trying to influence Sgp people.
Msia WILL get to negotiate the water agreement when this one expires in due course.
