"PMD retailers left disappointed after meeting with LTA as fire safety criterion puts brakes on e-scooter sales
SINGAPORE: When around 20 personal mobility device (PMD) retailers shuffled out of a meeting with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on Thursday (Sep 13) afternoon, there was an air of resignation.
The retailers, who are part of the PMD Retailers Association of Singapore, were invited by LTA to discuss the recent announcement that all motorised PMDs must conform with UL2272 fire safety standards by 2021."
The PMD retailers r justifiably n totally understandable for feeling disappointed that LTA didn't agree to relax the fire safety rules.
The recently buyers of such PMD must accept they hv to scrap their devices by 2021.
It is a no brainer though emotionally most would said: but mine will not catch fire while charging. Or, i will never charge it if i m not around to watch over it!
Yet, it will b tragic to pick up a charred body or charred properties ehen fire destroyed life n properties.
So, let the -ve emotion goes n let rationality takes charge!
It makes total sense to keep fire safety No. 1 priority here!!
