Alibaba announced it made history again with sales of USD35B for its Single's Day Shopping bonanz!!
Well, glad to report I did not buy a single thing!!
"Dr William Wan of Sgp Kindness Movement suggesting sending repeat persistent litterbugs to jail!!"
Is this written by Dr Wan, The Gracious Movement or Kindness Movement, champion? For a moment I thought it is a fake news or an alternative fact by the ST!! Give up NOT Dr Wan. There r always gracious people even if they were or seems to be, a "minority"!
The idea of not cleaning up after us in public places is a good one so that Sgp residents can experience the effects of littering n rubbish piling up. The food centres stall owners will hv to be compensated if Dr Wan's experiment is carried out as they r victims here.
The idea of putting litterbugs in jail is a bad one as prison is not a place to help offenders rehabilitate n repent.
I will suggest caning them instead. Cane them n then let them go home. No need to waste resources on housing them in jail.
The humanitarians among us will cry foil n disagree. Just as they saud drug traffickers should not be sentenced to death. Yet, Sgp laws is firm on this. So maybe caning will work to stop repeat "die-hard" litterbugs?
I reiterate my stand on being gracious including stop littering n cleaning after ourselves: it starts at home when kids let maids do all the washing! When parents "excused" their school going kids as they hv to "study hard to get to university" n can't spare the time to wash up after dinner. When parents STOPPED the conscientious kids fr wanting to clean up after a meal at the foid/hawkers centres!
Oh, stop saying the old cleaners will be out of job! They hv plenty to do at the peak period in these eating places!!
A 1st world vibrant global city n nation CANNOT be gracious is NOT a 1st world nation truly.
Just like our MRT system!!
