1. Nice, France, attack by lone driver of a truck that killed more than 84 innocent lives, some of whom r just young kids out on a joyous Bastille Day celebratory evening!
How senseless n cold-blooded can this be!! The driver is supposedly a father of 3 kids n was "quickly radicalised" with no early signs of being radicalised at all!
He was shot dead, that's easy relief for him. And IS claimed that he was its "soldier". Soldier does not kill innocent civilians. Probably IS doesn't understand this. So the killer is not a soldier but just a murderer.
Another episode to remind us that "weapons" can be in many forms n while we don't hv to deal with firearms too much in Sgp, we simply hv to hv some practiced responses to the eventuality that terrorists will attack us. So that whatever form the attack maybe, we deal with them effectively.
2. Failed Turkish Coup
Remarkable that it happened though the military does have a history of intervening when any government veered too far from the center.
A good 200+ people, including soldiers n police besides those innocent people who were at the wrong place wrong time were killed. Good thing is the coup was quickly squashed as people went on the streets to stop the soldiers who were unwillingly involved in this coup. In fact some of them went against their superior officers!!
Turkey is the buffer between million of refugees from the middle east n an important allies of NATO. The USA would pay a high price if it is radicalised!!
May peace prevails as Turkey is a nice place to visit n should stay that way.
