Euro2016 - England's fans must be dismayed that yet again, a small group of them hooligans created problems and fought with 'rival fans', and they get labelled the same! They MUST speak for themselves and ask the press and police to be more accurate in the descriptions of 'fans' vs. 'rioters and hooligans'! Fans are NOT hooligans. Hooligans ARE!! 'Fans' who turned hooligans ARE hooligans and NOT fan!! Period. Be clear!!
1. "State of Florida declared a state of emergency as 50 were shot dead by a lone gunman in a nightclub for gay"
This is described as the worst killing in the USA. That must say something about the atrocity and violence about this lone gunman and the fire power he managed to bring with him!
Well, while it is tragic, and there will be a lot of accusations and counter-argument for and against gun control again, it will, sadly and surely, happened again as the for gun folks will win out! This in a democratic society. The minority sometimes can dictate to the majority! Oop! Sorry. Did I just say: a democracy where the minority and dictate to the majority? Yes. That is what I just said! Funny if not for the number of deaths in this shooting incident!
All I know is that it will take a lot from the lone gunman to kill 2 or 3 with a knife instead of some high power machine gun!
RIP to the dead. Peace to the survivors and the surviving family members and friends.
The FBI supposed said it will investigate it as a terrorist act. How does it help these dead people? Still, someone need to know the motive so that there can be a closure. So, go investigate.
2. "Lifts problem in HDB heartlands!"
Supposedly the 5th incident of lifts behaving erratically and causing hurts to some residents in Sengkang was reported. The 5th in the last few months is statistically insignificant but if you are the victims, statistics provide no comfort at all!
Sengkang is not really a very old estate so to just put it down to 'ageing' machines will be too simplistic a reason to accept.
The same life supposedly had acted erratically and no plausible reasons were found after checks done! This is not comforting at all. Nothing wrong with the lift after such incidents had been reported simply cannot appease the residents. It is no wonder that when CNA visited, it filmed an angry resident chiding the lift maintenance employee on the problems the erratic lift is causing the residents!
If SMRT leaders are in charge, they will probably blame aging lifts. Luckily, Minister Khor Boon Guan, I think I got his name right, will not accept this. Or now is Minister Lawrence Wong's baby?
While the authority is investigating, lift users just have to take precautionary steps when using lifts like:
a. look n be sure the lift is at the same level as the floor before stepping in or out of it;
b. walk if u can as much as possible if "lift warning" is issued;
c. braced-position if the lift dropped suddenly n hope or pray for the best!!
Like a resident who was interviewed on that news segment, the young and the old will be most impacted IF they cannot rely on the lifts to move up and down.
So, the authority must try 120% to find out the causes of these erratic and dangerous malfunctioning of lifts soonest possible.
Before someone get seriously injured or killed! Not by a bullet from a gunman but from an erratic lift! That is tragic for sure!!
