Being overwhelmed with work and other trivial in the last few nights. So, here is a catch-up.
1. Brussels attack
The suspects were brothers linked to the Paris attacks. This shows that for some terrorists, the thought of 'we can influence and change them with love and patience and whatever niceties you can think of' will be MISGUIDED!
For such category of terrorists, there is only one SURE WAY of eliminating the possibility of an unexpected attack is to put them away!! Humanely if we must. This is a controversial suggestion and will be hotly challenged by the liberals. Of course, the concerns are: 'could we have mistaken? could we have been to rash to punish?' The answer will be: we hit some and we miss some. Hopefully hitting more than missing!
2. SMRT Tragedy
Not sure what transpired but it is something the public need to know: what exactly happened on the day on that track? How could the deadly accident happened when no danger should ever be expected on a 'training' routine?
Many speculations abound. Procedural mistakes? Inexperienced? whatever?
May the dead rest in peace and the surviving families and friends be strong.
3. Pregnant Lady to Jail
The ex-TRS editor, Ms Ai Takagi, 8-week pregnant is sentenced to 10 months in prison for sedition charges. Another sad situation though no life was physically lost. Hopefully the lady is strong enough to survive this experience with no negative impact on her mental state and her baby.
Sedition is a serious offense and the court has little leeway to be 'merciful' and avoid a jail term, I guessed. Whatever the final consequence of her jail term, may she has new strength to move on from this episode of her young life.
