What happened to 1Q2016? It seems to have zoomed past me without a trace till I woke up this morning realising this IS the last day of March 2016!! 1Q! 3-month! Gone forever!
So, a quick reflection of the last 3 months:
1. tremendous upheavals in the stock market and the oil price never stop falling and falling! Some lost while some profited handsomely. YET, the long term view is that 'oil price WILL come back somewhat'! How much is the prized guess!!;
2. the refugees crisis in Europe where Germany takes in MOST of them while other EU countries had 2nd thoughts! For me, it will never end if the REFUGEES are not willing to die for their rights to living like a human being in their HOME COUNTRY, no HOST country can be the place for them long term. In addition, many of them are just people seeking jobs in the Host nation and not genuine refugees!;
3. the never ending saga of City Harvest Church (CHC). It is STILL in courts! Still having fun with to and fro accusations against each other - the prosecutors vs. the defendants!! Any more episodes? Probably so given that the remaining CHC members are STILL willing to fund their beloved pastor(s) and spiritual leader!;
4. the recently announced Budget2016-17 is more refinement given that the big direction has been set in previous year that revolutionary. The economy supposedly still suck. In fact, sucking and hurting MORE! So, the focus on continuing to use the 'surpluses from investment passive income' to help the less fortunate makes lot of sense! Challenge is: when will the panic button be pushed or pressed or activated? Probably not in the next 4 years of this term of government as the national reserve DOES have a lot of trillions!
Investing conservatively at 1% return on 100 billion is still 1 billion!!
5. the first year after Mr Lee's death, people, luckily not so many, planned celebratory programs to honour him. The challenge is: will some be focusing on the FUTURE as we move forward without the ever present Mr Lee!
May the nation continues to be responsible, responsive and thrive.
