Last day of July! 7/12th of 2015 is over. Am I still on track with my 2015 Resolutions? Glad to report: Still on track mostly! :-)
1. Monsters that live among us?
"Woman filmed hitting mother: Neighbour faces 2 additional charges - CNA 31 July 2015
Darwinder Singh was charged with abetting Siti Redha Khamis - who was caught slapping her mother Mdm Kamisah Burel in a video posted online - in voluntarily causing hurt to her mother, as well as slapping a man understood to be Mdm Kamisah's husband."
Is there a monster that lives within us or the living environment invited the monster to come out from us? How is it conceivable that a human being will 'assist' another human being to abuse that human being's own parents? Sighed.
2. "MH370 clues mount as wreckage identified as Boeing 777 - CNA 31 July 2015
The wreckage, part of a plane wing, could provide the first tangible clue towards unlocking the mystery surrounding the doomed Malaysia Airlines plane, which disappeared without trace in March last year with 239 people on board."
Indeed is this the BREAKTHROUGH that the enigma of the 'Disappearing MH370' has been waiting for? I certainly hope so. A glimpse of hope and closure for the relatives of those passengers!
3. "Car insurance fraud: Man allegedly filed S$465,000 in claims for fake accidents - CNA 31 July 2015
SINGAPORE: A 37-year-old man was on Friday (Jul 31) charged with conspiring to cheat insurance companies out of more than S$465,000, by filing claims for traffic accidents that never happened.
Between May 2011 to July 2013, Rahmat Mohd allegedly conspired with several others, including Mohd Wadi Saptu and Sollihin Anhar, to cheat insurance companies such as Liberty, AXA and Tokio Marine to disburse amounts for fake accidents and personal injury.
Conspirators would lodge false accident statements, stating their vehicles were involved in accidents, to file for claims from their insurance companies. In some cases, multiple conspirators filed claims to different insurance companies for their involvement in the same fake accident.
Sollihin was charged last year with 81 counts of giving false information to the police and engaging in a similar conspiracy. Wadi was listed as a conspirator in some of those charges. On Friday, Rahmat was charged with 33 counts of motor insurance fraud.
The case will be next heard on Aug 28. Bail has been extended, under the condition that the accused surrenders his passport to his investigation officer."
Hmm, 'talent'?
It is good that these cheats are caught. Charged and appropriate penalties been given out after a fair trial and if fought guilty!
Such frauds are not helpful to innocent car insurance buying owners. Costs of repairs that hit the insurance companies will find ways to get the 'next' customers to pay through higher insurance premium eventually!
Cheating through inflated repairs bills used to be very prevalent until the insurance companies started looking closely at 'such authorised workshops and claims'. Now the fraudsters have expanded their 'repertoire' and the insurance companies have to 'progress in their investigation tactics and techniques too'!
Good ridden for me as I could well be the next 'You have to pay a higher car insurance premium Sir' victim!!
