Catching a cold and the body was too tired to do anything last night! So, catch up for 22-23 May 2015 Blogging
1. First, congratulations to the LionsXII for winning the Malaysia FA Cup final tonight! - "Football: LionsXII clinch Malaysian FA Cup after 3-1 victory over Kelantan - The Straits Times May 23, 2015"
This as an underdog too! It will be an inspiring boost to the Under23 to do well in the coming SEA Game at home! All the best.
2. "S'porean taking photo dies in cliff fall - The Straits Times May 23, 2015
Local media reported that Mr Mohamed Aslam had fallen in while taking a selfie on the cliff, but a relative who spoke to The Straits Times yesterday said he had in fact been taking pictures of the sunset."
Just 3 days ago the local press and radio shows were discussing if the 'selfie' culture has gotten out of control with a student supposedly been disciplined when taking a selfie with the presenter during the convocation ceremony in Malaysia; and some Singapore students who took issue that the local university authorities had 'banned' selfie during convocation ceremony! AND then this tragic news report.
Whatever it may be, condolences to the family of the deceased and RIP to him.
3. "Time to train S'poreans to be better customers" and "Incentivise good shopper behaviour" - Letters to the Editors The Straits Times 23 May 2015
BOTH letters above appeared in the same The straits Time are valiant attempts to IMPROVE the 'not there yet customer service standard' observed by PM Lee recently.
While the intentions are good, it is scary for objective thinking person to realise that IF Singapore consumers/customers, local or foreign, NEED incentive and/or training to behave like a 'GOOD' consumers/customers, Singapore is in BIG TROUBLE!!
Maybe it is NOT that bad. Maybe it is about WHAT do the 2 writers meant by: 'Good' consumers/customers.
For me, GOOD consumers/customers are:
1. self-respecting human beings;
2. human beings who RESPECT other human beings regardless of if she/he/they are service providers or Ministers or whatever!
These fundamental good values should be taught at home preferably. If not, taught in schools and hope (not very proactive) that the kids will 'share these good values' with their parents and influence upwards!
If the 'how to be good consumers/customers' are looking at MORE than the fundamental values of human decency, maybe they want to look at these 2 first?
We do what we think. Knowledge and skills cannot work without the MIND wanting to apply the knowledge and skills.
Good luck to helping Singapore consumers/customer, local and foreign, become 'GOOD'! Or leaving it to 'luck' will be just wishful thinking? ;-)
