Daily Lessons from Life 04 April 2015 - Good Friday and Lonely Death!

1. "Pope leads prayers for persecuted Christians on Good Friday - AFP  Apr 04, 2015

ROME - The Pope led Catholics in prayer for persecuted Christians around the world at a Good Friday service in Rome, a day after 148 students and security officers were massacred by Shebab Islamists in Kenya.

A small group of believers carried a cross between 14 "stations" evoking the last hours of Jesus's life during the traditional Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) procession, as the Pope looked on.

The procession was led by believers from Iraq, Syria and Egypt - all of whose minority Christian populations face persecution from armed groups including Islamic State militants - and Nigeria, where thousands have been murdered by jihadist organisation Boko Haram.

"In union with all people of good will throughout the world, His Holiness condemns this act of senseless brutality and prays for a change of heart among its perpetrators," a papal telegram sent earlier on Friday said.

As I have commented on this yet another senseless killing in the name of a religion, the KILLERs are NOTHING BUT JUST COWARDS twisting 'their religion' in way NO DECENT and ENLIGHTENED human being would lend credit to.

Talking mercy with these COWARDS would be a mistake though a FAIR and OPEN trial must be conducted and firm and severe sentences MUST BE meted out to them. No two way about it!

2. "Clean-up crew on hand to spruce up Japan's "lonely death" apartments - Reuters  Apr 04, 2015

TOKYO - In March, the body of an elderly man was found on the floor of his apartment in downtown Tokyo. He had been dead for a month. Neighbours hadn't noticed the octogenarian's absence. His bank made the rent payments on time, his family didn't visit, and the only reason for the body's discovery was the slight smell that troubled the tenant in the flat below."

This is scary and NOT TOO FAR from reality for Singaporeans who are ageing rapidly too! I SINCERELY hope that this WILL NOT be a standard affair in Singapore.

At least for the poor who stayed in 1-room HDB rental flats, this will happen LESS often as the government NORMALLY will have 'Elder Care Center' below such housing type and people check in on the elderlies if they are not down for their 'free foods' and exercises!

As for those who live alone in other HDB housing type and private properties, they SHOULD theoretically NOT have this risk since they would have someone to look after them. Yes?

IF NOT, it would be tragic. A bit MORBID to talk about this unwanted death but need to as it really can happen in Singapore just as it is happening in Japan! Better be aware and take preventive measures than be caught off guards!
