1. "Germanwings captain tried to smash into cockpit with axe - AFP Mar 27, 2015
BERLIN - The captain locked out of the cockpit of the Germanwings plane that crashed in the French Alps used an axe to try and force his way back in, German daily Bild said Friday, citing security sources.
Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz appeared to have deliberately flown the plane into the side of a remote mountain after locking the captain out of the cockpit, French officials have said, killing himself and all 149 others aboard Tuesday."
This is SHOCKING and VERY VERY sad IF true that the co-pilot had decided to end his life bringing along with him 144 passengers and 5 crews. WHY? WTF!! Again, IF true. Sad. And ANGRY!!
2. "Reported in CNA that the overwhelming outpouring of grief and respect for the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew is resulting in rubbish piling up and with more bins and cleaners needed!(?)"
Again, IF this is TRUE, I wonder IF Mr Lee will be proud of this? Yes, it is more than 140k+ people we are talking about who had taken hours to wait in line to pay their last respects to him. A man who truly has devoted his life to building Singapore up. As he was quoted: What have to got? A 'successful' Singapore. What has he given? HIS LIFE!
It is very SAD that he once said: I have given up hope that I will NOT see gracefulness in Singaporeans before my times! Maybe he was right. He normally is!
For me just on this particular episode, wonder aloud:
1. is it NOT possible for any thinking person to at least BRING a plastic bag with him or her knowing that it will be hot, sometimes wet, and drinks and foods will be consumed as one wait for hours in line so that the rubbish can be put away by each participant? OR is it TOO MUCH to expect?;
2. do I experienced: 'peer pressure' that I should also be lining up to pay my last respects to this one of a kind great man? NO. WHY? Because I am past 55 years old and had come to realise that: all great people will come to rest eventually. Whatever achievements they had achieved, they did it because they wanted to. It will be very hard for ANYONE to force them to do what they had done. For me, Mr Lee made his OWN choice. To create a 'successful Singapore' with his life. It is HIS-Story. He did not give up his life as far as I am concerned. Singapore is his life and he lived it to the FULLEST - adulation or condemnation, accolades or 'misunderstood' brickbats and over-expectations of a spotless semi-God!;
3. he has my respects without a doubt. To doubt his accomplishment for Singapore will be ungrateful and totally unreasonable. Of course for those who were hurt as they happened to be the 'obstacles' and need to be removed with the maximum efficiency and effectiveness, they can beg to defer; and rightly so. Theirs were personal. For BENEFICIARIES like myself, I have a lovely family, a HDB flat, great careers when I was actively working, enough saving to fund my simple living, etc. ALL thanks to this man and his 1st generation colleagues and the pioneer generation of Singaporeans.
As I often say in the last few days: Look back with gratitude and move forward knowing that he has done his part and the next SG50 will be up to the new generation of Singaporeans to decide, create and sustain. Will GRACEFULNESS be achievable THEN?
