Daily Lessons from Life 15 February 2015 - Copenhagen gunman maybe inspired by Paris attacks: Police

"Copenhagen gunman maybe inspired by Paris attacks: Police - AFP  Feb 15, 2015

COPENHAGEN - Danish police said Sunday a gunman killed by officers after two fatal shootings in Copenhagen may have been inspired by last month's Islamist attacks in Paris.

The man, believed to be the sole perpetrator of what the Danish prime minister called "a cynical act of terror", was previously known to intelligence services, police said.

He "may have been inspired by the events that took place in Paris a few weeks ago," Jens Madsen from the Security and Intelligence Service told reporters. He added that the man may "generally have been inspired by militant Islamist propaganda issued by IS (Islamic State) and other terror organisations." He said police were looking into the possibility that the man had travelled to conflict zones such as Syria and Iraq."

It is a matter of time that another strike will be made. This is scary!

Lessons for me are:

1. copycat is abundant! somehow someone for whatever reason want to copy other without any valid reasons. It is irrationality. It is pure emotions. And 'emotion' is unpredictable! By the way, is it a TERRORIST act and FORGET about bringing in Islam, the religion!;

2. I am glad that the term: 'lone wolf' is NOT used. 'Lone wolf' sounds sexy, in my opinion anyway. So, there is NO NEED to give such terrorists with sexy label. It is totally undeserving;

3. what next for the Danish people? Will they live in fear that another imminent attacks will take place? As I shared after the Paris Attacks, the people of each nation will have to decide do they want: 'free speech or responsible free speech'? Some editors commented by adopting 'responsible free speech' means submission to 'tyranny of the terrorists'. For me, it is NOT. It simply means: 'speak your mind with the intention of articulation your points of view WITHOUT imposing them on others who may disagree with yours!'. There is NO need to ATTACK others' points of view about themselves since they TOO cannot attack the other!
