Daily Lessons from Life 18 November 2014 - Jordan queen urges anti-IS fight to save Islam

What I like about this maverick veteran criminal lawyer Subhas Anandan is that he is REAL. Unpretentious. And he admitted to all his vices and bad behaviours in the past!

As a cancer survivor, he can be a role model on how to fight and live with cancer. Hopefully, he can inspire THOSE who still smoke and drink heavily to 'want to change their habits' before they get cancer!

ABU DHABI - Jordan's Queen Rania on Tuesday urged support for US-led air strikes against the Islamic State jihadist group, saying the future of the Middle East and Islam was at stake.

"Our silence is the greatest gift" for IS, which has seized large swathes of Iraq and Syria, she told participants at a media summit in Abu Dhabi. "We are complicit in their success," added the queen.

She is married to King Abdullah II, whose Hashemite kingdom has joined the US-led air campaign against IS in Syria along with Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

"The coalition must be broader... It's the fight for the future of the Middle East and Islam," she said. "It's a fight that we have to win." She said the fight goes beyond the battleground and is between moderates and extremists worldwide. "Winning also depends on our ability to conquer the philosophical battleground as well. Because at the heart of this assault is an ideology," she said.

Queen Rania stressed the need for education reform, insisting that the followers of extremist groups are "from classrooms in which they were never challenged to think for themselves, and where they learned an outdated curriculum".

Analysts have warned of the dangers for Jordan because of its participation in the campaign against IS, a Sunni Muslim extremist group that has committed widespread atrocities in areas under its control.

Amman is grappling with its own Islamist extremists, some of whom have joined jihadists in Iraq and Syria. The United States has also launched bombing raids against IS in Iraq with the involvement of European allies."

It is GOOD to hear it from the people in the middle of it all, even though some may say that she said what she had said because she is an American!

Lessons for me are:

1. moderates Muslims MUST speak out against the Muslim extremists! They have to let the world know the extremists are the minority!;

2. the moderate Muslims must never allowed the extremists to hijack their religion and use it to 'kill' people who are not of the Islam faith. In fact, it would be good for the Muslims to DISCLAIM that these extremists are Muslims at all!! No religion in the world can claim itself to be a religion IF it says: non-believers should be murdered and beheaded in public and be shown to the rest of the world! NO!;

3. hopefully MORE prominent Muslims will be speaking out like Queen Rania and be given prominent display in the Middle East region. When the extremist's ideas are spread in schools to young innocent and impressionable kids unhindered, it will be a herculean task to 'get rid of it' when it takes root!! Like they said: 'when one is brainwashed, one becomes unquestioning blind follower who will go to the extreme without any fear!'

Peace to the world and may Islam be known for its goodness and peaceful nature instead of being a 'religion of bloody murderers'!
