1. MH370 Updates - "Malaysians fume at insensitive MH370 Halloween costumes - The Star/Asia News NetworkSunday, Nov 02, 2014"
Sad to write about this updates as some people apparently think that it is OK to use MH370 as a Halloween props! Maybe someone forget that it was NOT found yet and some of the loved ones of the missing passengers were still hoping against hope for a miracle! Should have leave MH370 alone!
2. Hong Kong police grill British trader over double murder - AFP Nov 02, 2014"
A distraction from the never-ending Occupy Central campaign for Hkg SAR populace to digest? A sad tragedy with 2 lives lost. Wondered what happened there?
3. "Lee Kuan Yew keeps tradition of planting a tree at Tanjong Pagar's annual Tree Planting Day - The Straits Times Sunday, Nov 02, 2014
SINGAPORE - On June 16, 1963, former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew planted a Mempat tree at Farrer Circus - marking the start of an island-wide tree planting campaign.
Fifty-one years on, Mr Lee continued the tradition by planting a sea teak tree at Bukit Merah View on Sunday. Mr Lee has planted a tree every year since 1963. Over the past five decades, he has planted more than 60 trees in Singapore."
Good to see Mr Lee ups and about!
Lessons for me are:
a. something will not change! A fighter with extraordinary determination! This man is Mr Lee Kuan Yew! Good for him at more than 90 years old still up and about!;
b. tree planting is a good deed. This is ONE of the most successful campaign where Singapore is one of the more vegetated urban mega-cities in the world. Greenery aplenty wherever you go. Be it in town. At the suburbs. Everywhere! So much so that one of the main concerns of the National Parks is to look out for old and sick trees and cut them down before they break off or fall down and caused some damages to properties, and worst, life!;
c. while Singapore has to continue to put in efforts on keeping our environment green with plants, the heavy haze this morning and accumulated over the day shows that the external factor CAN and DO exert an out-size impact on our living quarters! And when our NEIGHBOURS do not practice ecologically friendly practices, there is VERY LITTLE Singapore can do! Short of 'sucking it up' and 'do the preventive measures as best we could to minimise the negative impact of the haze and other potential environmentally destructive practices around us.
Of course, if we work our influence right, there is no reason for this type of threats to persist or exist. When the bigger environment is polluted, EVERYONE suffers. So, the people of the places where such threats started, WILL want the bad practices STOP as they are suffering much worst at Ground Zero.
Maybe we can work the regional collaboration and cooperation magic! Just have to be a little bit more patient!
