Daily Lessons from Life 22 July 2014 - MH17 crash: Malaysia quietly worked back channels to secure bodies, black boxes

"MH17 crash: Malaysia quietly worked back channels to secure bodies, black boxes - Reuter 22 July 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Reuters) - As Western leaders increasingly pointed the finger of blame at pro-Russian separatists, and Moscow itself, over the shooting down of a Malaysia Airlines plane in eastern Ukraine, the government in Kuala Lumpur said little.

The reasons for that reticence - which had drawn criticism at home - became clear on Tuesday, when Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak announced shortly after midnight that his government had negotiated the release of the remains of nearly 300 victims of Flight MH17 from separatist-held territory.

Malaysia wanted three things from the separatists: return the bodies, hand over the black boxes and assure safe access for investigators to the crash site."

This is a great breakthrough if it is indeed the case. That the bodies had been returned, the 'black boxes' in the hands of the Malaysians and international investigators have safe access to the crash site!

Lessons for me are:

1. playing neutrality can be a big help in this case though it surprised me that the rebel leaders actually can make independent decision without the Russian's involvement!;

2. the earlier the rebels can meet the 3 conditions, which are demanded by all nations with victims involved, the better for them as they have no moral authority to say anything since it is quite certain that one of them had fired the missile that brought down the plane and killed the 298 innocent lives!;

3. with this breakthrough, if actually real and the safe access for the international investigators is been honoured, the rebels' leadership just need to throw the mindless incompetent idiotic people who actually pushed the button to launch the deadly missile as scapegoats to settle the case and satisfy the angers of the nations with victims on board the plane!

It is as much a Malaysia government's triumph as that for the Russian!

For me, I don't really care for the politics. I just want justice be served and that those murderers must be brought to face the penalties they deserved after an open and fair trial!

Once again, rest in peace to the victims and condolences to the families.
