Could not logged in last night to Blogger for some unknown reasons to a technology blind man like myself. So, this is a catch up before I dash out for the day on the other side of Mother Earth in the morning.
Another shooting incident in the Land of the Free, the USA.
Supposedly 1 couple carried that attack and were heard shouting they are carrying out a 'revolution' before the lady killed herself after killing her male accomplice dead!
2 police officers died and a lady across the road shopping got killed as well. Why? She will NEVER KNOW!
Guns and Gun Law is a dividing topic in the USA. Some of my American friends, not that I know many, had strong dividing views about this right to own guns.
I was informed once that when the people has the right to guns, it stops the government of the days from 'strong arming' its people to tolerate tyranny as they can state an armed uprising! I thought it makes sense as Chairman Mao of the PRC once said, or with it some other great politicians that said it: 'Power is achieved through the barrels of guns!'
Yet, there are some Americans who had enough of this random killing by cowards who would never had even dared to confront anyone when unarmed, and wanted this stop.
Alas, gun lobby is simple too rich and powerful. It triumphs over the anti-gun lobby each time though the margin has been narrowing.
Another case of 'cultural factor'. Like the 'Rapes in India' cultural factor that I commented upon a few nights ago.
Lessons for me are:
1. as long as the PEOPLE of the land continue to tolerate it, it will be there;
2. until, and this is the WORST situation, those who are against banning guns or applied very stringent gun ownership, had their own loved ones killed randomly and senselessly, they will probably not change their mind-set. It would have been too high a price to pay;
3. in Singapore, may this 'right' thing be never be abused. Certain things are simply too risky to be 'liberal'. To experiment. In a society with civil people, with laws and orders, the only people who feel threatened are too who do not trust the laws enforcing authority to do their jobs, and that ordinary people need to protect themselves from 'baddies with guns'!
