Daily Lessons from Life 13 March 2014 - Aussie expat who bloodied singer Dawn Ho's nose is under police investigation

MH370 Updates - STILL no sighting of the plane though there were reports of large debris been spotted and a report that the plane flown for another 4 hours after it supposedly lost contact. Both reports were 'unsubstantiated' or 'unable to be validated' by the authorities. So, STILL keep hoping!!

The Australian expatriate who who allegedly punched jazz singer Dawn Ho in the face during an altercation on Sentosa on Sunday (March 9) has resigned from his job, but his troubles are not over as the matter has been handed over to the police for investigations.

Mr Aaron Jeremiejczyk, who started work as a director of marketing at Tadcaster Hospitality about three months ago, is being investigated over the alleged attack that occurred at a taxi stand.

According to a report in The New Paper, Sentosa Leisure Management's director of island operations Koh Piak Huat said frontline staff noticed the incident at about 9.20pm.

They alerted island security, who got to the scene within five minutes. He added that the matter has been handed over to the police for investigations.

Police confirmed the incident and said it has been classified as a case of voluntarily causing hurt. Investigations are ongoing.

Tadcaster Hospitality, which owns The Exchange, an Australian-themed bar and eatery in Asia Square, has suspended him after being made aware of a Facebook post by Ms Dawn Ho on the incident.

He tendered his resignation later that day, said managing director Tony Coughlan, noting that Mr Jeremiejczyk had been an employee for about three months and had no history of misbehavior."

This is another unfortunate incident involving 'expats' in Singapore. It could have been anyone but he being an expat simply just make things a bit sensitive.

Lessons for me are:

1. NO ONE should behave violently towards another fellow human being. What more towards a female member of the public! His violent behaviors CANNOT be condoned and MUST be punished. No two way about it;

2. This incident also showed that when we want to be helpful or to exercise our 'sense of justice' and be righteous, we may want to be careful on how we want to go about doing it. I gave credit to Ms Ho for standing up for the poor cabby. At the same time, her candidness about 'she traded vulgarities with this Mr J' revealed that her method perhaps can do with some tweaking! When someone is 'overwhelmed with emotion', negative ones especially, an-eye-for-an-eye response is not really rational! Unless, of course, one is looking for a negative outcome!;

3. With Singapore just being named as the MOST EXPENSIVE city or country by EIU recently. A claim that was disputed or qualified by a few cabinet ministers that it is only true for the 'expats'. Perhaps Mr J is NOT the right type of expats we want since the trigger for his outrage and aggressive behaviors toward the cabby was due to the S$34 charge levied by this hapless limo driver! :-)

Jokes aside. There is no place for violent conducts in Singapore. Period. Expat or local alike!!
