Being following the udpates the whole day and also getting some messages from friends and ex-colleagues on: 'someone we know or our friends know were on that MH370 flight'!
Being an ex-Motorolan, it hits hard to learn that 20 Freescales Semiconductors (spin-off from Motorola Semiconductors), 12 Malaysian and 8 PRC Chinese, were on board that plane from the Company's press release. It is likely that some of my ex-colleagues might know someone in that group. It really sucked!
This was followed by reading on The Sunday Times of another ex-Motorolan, someone I had met a few times and worked on certain project, has his wife and 2 daughters on that plane as well! It is very depressing though we did not keep in touch. My worst fear that with this incident happening so close to home that I might know someone or someone's family or friends who might be on that plane. Sad.
A lot of speculations and 'false news' were swirling around and the families and friends of the passengers got very emotion, fully understandable, and the need for information, ANY INFORMATION, from the airline, the airport authorities, the various governmental agencies and personnel involved in search and rescue mission are highly sought after.
The latest updates indicated that the plane might had turned around and tried to get back to KL International Airport (KLIA). There were also possible terrorists' involvement given that 2 of the 4 suspicious passengers had stolen Italian and Austrian passports.
Whatever it is, as far as I am concerned, IF there is NO evidence to confirm the WORST case scenario, I still hope that the plane somehow had landed somewhere as it had been hijacked or whatever, and that the passengers, pilots and crews are still alive.
We read about mishaps in the sky every now and then. They were generally far away. This one is different. It is so close and one cannot helped but be emotionally invested. Just hope there is a miracle. Continue to hope until proven otherwise.
