PETALING JAYA: The death sentence meted out on a couple who starved their maid to death should serve as a warning to other employers, says the Malaysian Maid Employers Association (Mama).
"Let this be a lesson to the others to treat their maids well, as human beings and part of their household - not as slaves," said Mama president Engku Ahmad Fauzi Engku Muhsein. "Justice has been done. It was a sinful case!""

What can you say about the 2 human behaviors that baffled MANY right thinking and feeling human being?
Lessons for me are:
1. only human being can do the cruelest and most inhuman things on a fellow human being when their survival was NOT threatened at all. Unlike most beasts and wild animals that will kill and main their own kinds for foods in very desperate situation! Yet, human being sits atop of the Kingdom of animals!;
2. haze, man-made ones, has been around for many years. Just as we thought the worst is over and we will NOT see the haze back again, it started to drift in. It is HAZY day and night again Singapore! Courtesy of our Indonesian neighbours where certain people SIMPLY cannot see the harms, short and long term ones, it is creating for its own people and its neighbours! YET, it is crazy to suggest that the people at GROUND ZERO do not care about the haze. I mean folks like us who are hundred of kms away from the source of fire felt sting in the eyes by the drifting haze, what more those at ground ZERO!! Surely they must be hurting too!;
3. rationally, NO ONE in the sane mind will starve and kill a fellow human being. NO ONE will want to harm himself and his loved ones with burning agricultural land and create the health threatening haze and pollutants. So, what is MISSING? For the individual culprit, individual counselling and psychiatric treatment may help. For the 'burning peasants', supposedly, or the plantation companies behind these 'peasants', maybe it is a case of 'incentives NOT ENOUGH'? As I have written in the past, SURELY the economic and health damages being inflicted on Singaporeans, Malaysians and EVEN Indonesians FAR OUTWEIGHED what collectively we could have PAID these peasants NOT to adopt the 'slash and burn' fertilization method! NO? Of course, for the Companies behind these peasants, if true, they MUST be brought to justice and JAILED in a smoking prison cell. Maybe that will wake up their senses?
