Well, hardly the 'right' way to start the Chinese Lunar Year by missing the 2nd day of blogging! The 1st of February 2014 too!
So, a bit of timely reflection is in order, urgently actually.
It is always a challenge to keep the weight down during the festive CNY season when one visits family members and relatives to spread the joy of CNY.
The challenge of being conscious of what we eat vs. the urge of the generous hosts' unbridled enthusiasm and sincerity to see us take in all the goodies on offer has posed great trauma to many visitors I am sure.
Hence, without restraints I ate to my heart's content and, of course, to the delight of the hosts too.
When I weight myself on the 3rd day morning, the scale stood at 79.5kg. A good 2kg from the same scale on the 1st day morning! This is terrifying. Especially for me as the weight targeted to achieve in 2014 is 75 kg or below!
So, last night after a 'relatively' light dinner, I took off with my running shoes and jogged and walked and struggled for the last 5 km of my 15 km trot from Clementi Wood area to my home in Central area of Singapore. A good 2 hours 35 mins. I have NEVER felt so stretched in a long while after jogging and walking a 15km distance. The reason is easy for all to see: the extra 4.5kg tell! Big time!!!
I was so spent that after a quick shower I simply collapsed into my bed and tried to sleep. Hoping that the next morning, which is this morning, my weight will be down a little and I can continue my journey of keeping the routine to achieve a healthy weight before the end of the 1st quarter of 2014!
Once again, the simple formula of: Closing weight = Opening Weight + What you ate (which can easily adds up) - What you burned (which is hard work as you need to jog at 8km/hr for 20 mins just to burn up 150 kcal?)!
I have been conscious of what I ate today. I will continue tomorrow. It is about discipline and reminding oneself that it takes hard work to achieve what you set up to achieve.
At the same time, I want to do it with a smile since it is something worth doing, I may as well enjoy it! :-)
