"Downtown Line service disrupted for 15 min on opening day - The Straits Times Dec 22, 2013
SBS Transit senior vice-president for corporate communications Tammy Tan said: "There was a temporary disruption to service at about 12pm today due to a train fault but this was quickly resolved and full service resumed not long after."
The train fault caused a delay between the Bugis and Chinatown stations, reported Lianhe Wanbao. An SMRT spokesperson told the paper that there was a delay from 12.06pm to 12.14pm.
Sunday marks the first day of operations for the first stage of the new Downtown Line.
Downtown Line 1 was opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong yesterday morning and comprises the following stations: Chinatown, Telok Ayer, Downtown, Bayfront, Promenade and Bugis.
Commuters will be able to travel for free on stage one of the Downtown Line (DTL) from Dec 22 up till Jan 1."
I am NOT SURE whether to fault SBS Transit or what?!
Lessons for me are:
1. it is a puzzle for me why it would breakdown on the 1st day! Just after PM Lee proudly opened it with the Transportation Minister and other dignitaries and VIPs gracing the occasion too!;
2. then again it is LIFE! The best planned moves CAN go astray! Murphy's Law struck!;
3. nevertheless it is concerning that the standard is NO LONGER as good as in the past. It is worth digging deeper to understand the contributing reasons. Unless, we have another 'isolated' case!
Happy free riding the DTL!!
