Daily Lessons from Life 27 May 2013 - One road rage attack every 4 days in Singapore
"One road rage attack every 4 days in Singapore - The Straits Times May 27, 2013
Reported cases that resulted in assault rose to 97 last year, up from 84 in 2011 and 63 in 2010."
Wow! This is an impressive number!! For the wrong reasons though. LOL.
Lessons for me are:
1. if it is not a life or death situation - let it be;
2. a raging person is emotionally charged and cannot take in anything that is rational. So tyring to REASON with him or her at that point is a futile attempt. In fact, it can be like adding fuel to a fire. The challenge is for the calmer person who is probably in the right to recognise that reality and NOT insist on talking reasons with the enraged mindless person(s). IF the enraged person(s) is/(are) acting aggressive and you are NOT able to engage him or her or them without causing harms to yourself, back off. There are other ways to deal with them. They will find their match eventually;
3. if the road rage is getting too much and refuse to back off even after you have backed off, call the traffic police. At all time keep yourself safe from harm. The good thing in Singapore is that we KNOW they won't have any fire arms and the worst is some phsical damages to the cars if you try to drive away.
I am sure the traffic police will be stepping up enforcement on such incidents now that it has made the news headlines!! To follow up in 3-month time? :-)
