Am very happy to report that 2 of my friends raised 'target breaking' sum of money for charities of their choices over the weekend.
One ran 5km in 35 mins and raised S$57k above the 'stretched' target of S$50k (from S$20k!) with her small team and the other raised, with his colleagues US$149k (beating the target of US$120k), riding bicycle from KL to S'pore.
The money is secondary as many of my friends are wealthy enough to part with a few hundreds or even thousands. It is the fact that they bothered to take the efforts to train and achieve. This is want motivate me to support them.
This is also why I have been faithfully training and jogging and walking the charity marathon for the last four years to raise fund for Singapore Cancer Society; and going to do again this year end for the 5th time.
It is about trying to do something meaningful with our lives. Life has to be more than just making more money but how to spend the money earned meaningfully.
I am thankful that I am able to be part of their charitable act. I am also very grateful that they will be, again, support my charitable act too.
Nothing beats like-minded people getting together to achieve. :-) :-)
