Two news that caught my eyes over last 2 days.
1. Another cyclist killed on the road
Recent trend of common people taking to long distance cycling is good as it is a very healthy sport. At the same time, it is a very dangerous sport especially when one is on the road for long ride. Many of these long rides are in remote parts of Singapore and many of them do it in the early morning.
Rider's safety education must continue to be beefed up. Most of these cyclists are safety conscious. So, the drivers are the ones who need to be educated intensely on the cyclists' trails.
May such incident be eliminated to zero.
2. Animal right activists are frustrated and angry with the National Park Authority to cull wild boars
This one has an easy solution if the animal right activists are willing to put the wild boars in their home and commit to keeping them out of troubles like attacking children and joggers or passerby! Ok. It it tongue in cheek BUT yet what is the solution if the authority does not cull the wild boars?
Singapore government has to be very careful NOT to allow special interest groups to INFLUENCE its policy for the common good of the majority of Singaporeans.
I find the points of view presented by the authority to be perfectly reasonable in the light of the city nature of our country.
Culling the wild boars IS the right thing to do in this situation. We hear the voices of the animal right activists. We respect that. Let's start the culling now ...
