It is good to learn that PM and his family eat out at hawker center without much fanfares. This is HOW it should be. The very top people leading the way to show that there is really no need to have a lot of money to live the good life!
May this be a rally call and a role model for ALL up-and-coming talents of Singapore to take note. May this be the start of a trend to seek moderately well paid compensation package and ease the labour cost factor. May this new trend break the stranglehold the 'old sacred cow' principle that: if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. That talented people with a balanced view of life knows it is not about how much you are paid but how much you can give that make a successful and meaningful human being.
India father beheaded daugther over 'affairs' is NOT new news. It had been reported before in India and some parts of the world where the definition of 'affairs' included 'being raped' and where 'family honours' means killing the victims instead of the offenders (not that I advocate private justice). It is cloaked under the disguise of 'tradition' and 'values'. It is NOT for me to tell the people in that culture that it is wrong but for some people in that culture to say so IF they think it is wrong! In this way, it is easier for this type of 'insane rationale' be broken and discarded. Trying to condamn it as an outsider will not cut it.
