Daily Lessons from Life 31 March 2012 - Earth Hour Day

This is 31 March 2012! A quarter of 2012 has just come to an end. I guessed it is better to look at time and age just as numbers. Nothing more if you are having fun, developing your fullest potential in doing good and spreading the goodness around.

Since today is Earth Hour Day, let's talk conservation and eco-friendliness.

Can pure capitalism co-exist with eco-friendliness and conservation?

Not a chance if we leve it to market forces! LOL!!

Yet it the best self-interest of the capitalists, it is better for them to take care of the Earth so that they can have a business to make money from some people who use their products, services or solutions.

So, capitalism and eco-friendliness and conservation MUST co-exist for the game to continue forever, or at least for a long long time! BUT not 'pure' capitalism.

There are awareness for sure. At least in some of the so-called 'more developed' economies. Even in these countries, the consumers' behaviors are not totally eco-friendly and conserved waste. Excesses are still the order of the day than rule.

In many of the 'catching up and don't leave me behind' economies, especially the giant ChIndia (China+India), the politicians are playing super catch-up and have no time for conservation and eco-friendliness. A rush to gain material wealth for its sake rather than really pausing to ask: what do all these riches buy you? happiness or contenment or ??

This Earth Hour thingy is fine. Another media attention grabbing activity. Will the people in authority really suport this with concrete policies and follow up enforcement after educational efforts have taken place?

Knowing is not doing. May Earth sruvives commercialism and continue to provide a safe haven for human race to live and, hopefuly, enjoy it!
