Daily Lessons from Life 16 March 2012 - iPAD as Front Page News

Well, a rather lazy day for me with the flu medicine keeping me down almost all day!

Just like to comment on a headlines on the Channel News Asia webpage today: the 1st Singaporean family to own the new iPAD3.

I must confessed I am not an Apple fan though I once were. Steve Jobs has done a marvelous job of creating one of the most valuable companies in the USA, and the world during his return of Steve Jobs era. It is a remarkable marketer for sure. He is safely in iGate now in iHeaven.

Still, to have this headlines of 'The 1st Family in Singapore to own an iPAD' is, to me, frivolous. Offensive even. Provided that headlines is not a 'paid distribution' but a genuine news worthy piece. Even so does this world not has MORE news worthy news?

Technology companies constantly outdo each others in obsoleting the newest of the latest technological gizmo in blinding speed. The contractors or sub-contractors who can churn out the gadgets that conform to the demand of quality and quantity of the principals get the contracts. Never mind the long hours the people have to work on the deals. Well, where on earth do you think that they can turnaround so fast? With huge number of human capital and long hours worked. Yes. Occasionally you get that really SMART breakthrough but mostly intense hard slog!

Then there is the obsoleted products. What happen to iPAD, iPAD2 and other similarly technologically advance products? Did the world really use the full 10% or 50% of the power these products can produce for human being? Maybe not. No one really needs that anyway. Just go on innovating. Don't worry about if human being really needs it. Or what lifelong impact the over-use of such technologies will have on human behaviors. The wired and wireless generation more in tune with working with machines than fellow human being?

Ok. Enough said. Or enough of my bitching. Time to go to bed and rest my flu ravaged body! Good night.
