Daily Lessons from Life 06 May 2011 - Cooling Day!

TOday is the Cooling Day before Singaoreans go to vote tomorrow. A big day for many as this is the first time they get a chance to vote.

I think it will be interesting. Hopefully something new will emerge. Something that the establishment may not like to see but know it will happen eventually if things are run the way it has been and the way it is today.

If that happened, will things change for the better?

If depends on:

1. will the incumbents accept the fact that something had changed? will it accept that there is a need to listen more to diverging voices, argue the cases in public unless national securities are at stake?;

2. will the new comers stay true to their pledges of providing real check-and-balance or will they oppose for the sake of opposing even good, sound and well debated ideas that are strategically correct but unpopular?;

3. will the voters get to rejoice or repent with the new angel or monster that they have created? If they create a monster, then just kill it in 5 years time. If they create an angel, all the best to Singapore.
