"Caught on camera: Transsexual beaten into seizure - AsiaOne Sun, Apr 24, 2011
BALTIMORE, UNITED STATES - A trans-sexual was beaten by two African-American girls until she went into a seizure at a MacDonald's fast food restaurant.
English news site The Daily Mail reported that the 22-year-old trans-sexual, Chrissy Lee Polis, was thrown onto the floor by her assailants and kicked in the face repeatedly. She was also punched in the face and had her earrings ripped out of her earlobes.
What's more, restaurant staff did nothing to avert the beating, the victim continued.
According to the news site, an employee even filmed the assault on his mobile phone and was laughing while he did it. This employee has since been removed from his job.
ROnly one staff attempted to stop the attack but to no avail. It only stopped after an elderly woman eating in the restaurant intervened.
Even then, the assailants threatened to hit the old woman and continued to beat the victim until she went into a seizure by the front door.
They only left after a restaurant employee told them that the police was on the way. By-standers had contacted the authorities because they realised she needed help.
The Daily Mail reported that a 14-year-old girl had been charged as a juvenile while another 18-year-old girl was facing charges.
This incident has also caught the attention of a homosexuality group, who have called on the police to investigate it as hate crime."
This news is remarkable in 2 ways: 1stly it happened in USA, a land of the free and supposedly open society. 2ndly the assailants are youngsters at 14-year old and 18-year-old!
Lessons for me are:
1. USA is not that liberal afterall. Maybe we need to bear in mind that some part of USA is just as mess up as another part of the world in terms of having 'crazy, hateful, racist or anti-gay' behaviours!;
2. the wrong attitude can be planted in anyone regardless of their age and triggerred them to commit violent crimes against those they had biases on!;
3. there are still brave and righteous people who will try to do the right thing but intervening in what they see as injustice or unjust overly violent behaviors against a fellow human being - gay or not! Of course we do not have the facts about what triggered this savage attack. Did the transsexual provoked them? Even if he did, what did he do that triggered so much anger and violence?
Prejudices can be everywhere. There are some people who still need a lot of help to curb their emotion as well as know that any viloent acts will attract severe punishment. There will be consequences.
Make love and not violence against fellow human kind unless they trampled upon your right!
