Daily Lessons from Life 20 December 2010 - Europe Deep Freeze?

Well, we are in Amsterdam now after 9 days of travelling around Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lucern, and Koln. The snow was there. Not enough to keep us in though it did caused some longer road trips then planned by the tour operator.

Lessons for me are:

1. you cannot plan for the weather as nature has its own mind. It has been rather topsy turvy lately and the snow blizzards that stormed Europe were some of the earliest in history. An unwelcome early winter if you must tagged it!;

2. accusations of incompetence and negligence were hauled by some emotionally stressed travellers at some of the worst affected airports e.g. Gatwick and Heathrow in UK as the weathermen had suggested that the snow storm will be very severe and the airport authorities failed to be extra alert and be ready for some super human efforts to keep the airports opened! I am not sure if it is a fair charge since human vs. nature is normally a no contest when nature is at its furious self due to neglect and abuses by human on the environment!;

3. while some are frustrated, some are fortunate, like us, who had witnessed a great deal of snow in the places that we visited on this holiday trip without too much delays in our schedules. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a good day as we make our ways to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam evening.

In life, you win some and you lose some. Full steam ahead for home tomorrow night!
