BEIJING - China heaped fresh scorn Tuesday on the Nobel committee ahead of a ceremony honouring 2010 peace laureate Liu Xiaobo, calling its members 'clowns' and saying most of the world backed Beijing.

'Those at the Nobel committee are orchestrating an anti-China fuss by themselves,' foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told reporters.

'We are against anybody making an issue out of Liu Xiaobo and interfering in China's judicial affairs.'

She added: 'We will not change because of interference by a few clowns.'"

As I had shared before, Nobel Peace Prize has seen many controversial winners in the past. Most are politicians who are undeserving by many and only a handful winners are truly deserving. e.g. Mother Teresa.

The strange thing is normally the government of the winner normally ignored it when one of their critics won the Peace Prize. I guessed China government does not like taking it easy and let it be.

Lessons for me are:

1. as an international emerging power and to show your sophistication, you have to agree to disagree WITHOUT resorting to threats and other man's stupid behaviors!;

2. it is no big deal if you believed it is not. In that case, leave the issue alone and let whoever wanted to 'push' it carrying on until and unless it is a big lie and malicious in nature!;

3. when you said it is NOT and yet your behaviors betrayed your thoughts and you get all worked up over the critics, or enemies, will simply lead you to make more mistakes!

May I wish China has a more relaxed and assured self-image and that it is difficult for you to 'instigate' it into launching into this type of high handed way of dealing with the media! i.e. wise-up!!

p/s: 6 December 2010 night was crazy as I had to rush out 6 sets of Minutes from my other assignments and I went to sleep at about 5a.m.!! Hence, this piece to cover 6-7 Dec 2010 dates!!
