Sorry to write on this World Cup. After all, it is the Final and Spain has won it. I am please as I believed they deserved it as they played a beautiful version of the game in Europe. Also, their opponents, Holland, literally kicked their way into the Final with the referees giving a helping hand here and there during the quarter final against Brazil, my favourite team!
Again, football provides lessons for me in life:
1. when you have a bad start (Spain lost their 1st game in this tournament), it does not it will end badly. If you have the talent and the confidence, you can pick up the piece as long as you are still breathing, thinking, and trying harder and smarter!;
2. when you are winning (Holland won ALL their games to the Final), it means you must continue to give of your best and be ready that a fall may come. Just like the sun will rise from the East and set in the West. A good ride never last forever. Be strong when the devastation come. Again, as long as you are breathing, thinking, letting go of the pains and disappointment, and work harder and smarter, you will be a winner again - soon!;
3. were there controversial moments in this game? Sure. Should one of the Spaniards being sent off for a 2nd foul that might had warranted another Yellow Card? Maybe. Could the Dutch had wrapped it up on the 2 chances they were presented? Maybe. YET all these are just moot points and folders for coffee shop talks. It does not matter anymore as football, while a beautiful game, is not life and death, despite what certain famous Liverpool manager's declaration that: 'it is more than life and death'!
See you in Brazil in 2014?
Congratulation to Spain. Now we can get back our normal healthy sleep! :-)
