Daily Lessons from Life 04 October 2009

Something funny or silly and something glamorous for a change in my commentaries!

"Pilots fight crew in mid-air brawl on Indian flight

NEW DELHI - Air India said on Sunday it was investigating allegations of a mid-air brawl in which pilots and cabin crew were reported to have exchanged blows in front of startled passengers.

The Times of India reported that crew members threw punches and hurled abuse at each other on the flight from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to Delhi after a female attendant accused the pilots of sexually harassing her.

The fight spilled out into the galley of the plane as about 100 passengers looked on, the paper said under the headline "Pilots, crew slug it out at 30,000 feet".

"There are several eyewitnesses and we are recording their statements," the Times quoted police commissioner Satyendra Garg as saying.

State-run Air India said in a statement it had ordered an inquiry into what it described as a reported "scuffle", adding that two pilots and two crew members had been suspended."

AND

"Spectacular night for most desired Grand Prix event

What was described to be the most desired Grand Prix event was certainly a big hit among Singapore's glitterati.

500 of Singapore's ultra high society were invited to the Crystal Ball held at the Ritz-Carlton Millenia.

A generous charity auction of F1 memorabilia was a part of the evening with proceeds going to the Down Syndrome Association of Singapore."

Lessons for me are:

1. the silly things people with supposedly treasured technical skills when they are lost in perspective can be unimaginable. If the pilot or pilots did what they did in the flight, it is a total betrayal of their profession and a letdown on themselves as professional. Surely they did not started out that way as young and aspiring pilots who fly multi-million dollar planes with hundreds of passengers' lives in their hands. Maybe they lost their original intention of why they want to be a pilot in the first plane? Unless they always wanted to chase skirts in their pilot uniform! LOL!!;

2. while I am not a fan of F1 Racing as I consider it a 'sports' that past its usefulness in this ecologically conscious world, the ELITES in Singapore DO need to find an outlet to show off their wealth and, their equally, hopefully spontaneous and genuine, compassion to share their wealth in a meaningful way for some charities! So, the glamorous gala dinners, the black-tie parties, etc are SO VERY WELCOME! As long as these events do not degenerate into wild parties and with orgies thrown in, I think they are to be encouraged. Otherwise where else can they wear their tuxedo and their diamond laced night gowns by a famous designers here and there? LOL!!;

3. well, we have the silliest behaviors that will never happened on a Singapore Airline flight! (Touch wood!) and the behaviors that we can encouraged and allowed in 'de-sanitized, de-odorized, and de-colourized' tiny Red Dot called Singapore. So, enjoy whichever tinkle you!

Another day ends and the new week unfold...
