Daily Lessons from Life 14 July 2009

"Recession-hit Asia looks to religion Jul 14, 2009

As the chill winds of the economic downturn blow through Asia, many are seeking guidance from and solace in their faith. -- Reuters"

This is a video news piece by Reuters showing people from across Asia going to the churches, the temples, etc...

Lessons for me are:

1. deities really have no business with creating wealth for the undeserving. Those who only turn to them in time of troubles are not sincere and not committed. So, it is weird if the deities looked after them. Of course, they will look after them but not to create health and wealth for them!;

2. faith is a very personal thing. For me it is not about giving wealth and health but about doing the right things in the best possible way that create the most positive impact to the human race, the society you live and work in, the people who love and care about you and vice versa. So, in time of troubles, we simply need to look inward and ask the tough questions: what have we been doing all these years? are we doing good or are we simply asking for something that are unsustainable?;

3. for some praying hard and offering more offerings to the deities are the way to gain favour. This is a bit strange as this works like in our present world. At least some part of this big wide world some people work solely on: what is in for me so that I give you what you need or want! It will be demeaning the deities that they need to be bribed before they do the right things! If you are asking them to do the wrong things, will offering rewards work? I hope not! ;-)

While this report is fairly new, there are also words that perhaps the severest financial tsunami and its negative impact are abating. That the wounded world economy is slowly and gingerly staggering to it's feet. Of course, we must not forget the trillion of debts created by the US government that somehow need to be repaid by someone sometime!

Peace to the world and prosperity to the people who deserved it!
