Daily Leson from Life 02 May 2009

After hitting 74kg yesterday due to a 4km jog followed by a 2-hr walk in the MacRitchie Reservoir area and ended with another 4-5km jog back home, my weight went back up to 75kg this morning! It shows that you just have to work at it relentlessly to keep the weight down! ;-)

"Umbrella Christian body’s stand on AWARE saga - Channel News Asia - Saturday, May 2

SINGAPORE: On Thursday, the umbrella Christian group issued a statement saying, among other things, that it did not condone the use of the pulpit to get involved in the controversy.

It was a "responsible" stand that will help prevent any misunderstanding that the churches are backing one side in the AWARE dispute, or that this is a dispute between Christians and other Singaporeans.

Tolerance and restraint by all racial and religious groups is the "only practical way" for them to pursue their faiths in peace."

For those not in the known. AWARE is a woman's right Non-profit-organization that is embroiled in an 'internal struggle' between members who were pro-choice of sexual orientation (i.e. homo also can) vs. 'anti-homo' (i.e. homosexuality is not what God's had in mind for his/her/its creation!) recently.

Lessons for me are:

1. keep religion out of any secular organizations and issues of the lay people! Religion should be discussed in churches, temples, synagogue, moses, etc BUT never in a secular society;

2. religion is 'strong emotion' in my definition. And with emotional running high there is no chance for rationality, a key ingredient to solve problems and conflicts, will not have a chance to be heard! So, we solve human problems and challenges with rationality and not emotion. Of course, when we are looking for miracle we can draw on the power of emotion. However, it must not be at the expense of another fellow innocent human being!;

3. the Council of Churches has shown good sense to lay down or reiterate the rule of engagement in Singapore for the religious groups. Religious freedom is tolerated only because there is NO ONE religion claiming supremacy over another in Singapore. This stability MUST be protected at ALL COST! NO tolerance will be shown to anyone who try to test this boundary! NO ONE!!

As I wrote, the EGM of AWARE just concluded after a nearly 5-hour discussion behind closed doors. The new Exco team has been voted out and the old Exco team back in. The members, all 3000 of them, an all time high actually, had voted. May the democratically elected 'new-old-new Exco' team be allowed to do their work.

As long as they don't teach Homosexuality is the preferred choice, I am ok with it. Though I believed those with homo tendency needs help unless it is genetic or biologically pre-disposed. It is not natural. I am not anti-gay but I want people to enjoy sex nature has destined! ;-))
