Daily Lesson from Life 31 March 2009

Today is the end of the 1Q of 2009! How time flies!!

A review of the 2009 Goals and Objectives is in order. I am glad to report that I am still keeping on track to realizing my 2009 Resolutions though with some difficulties in the weight department!!

1. Weight - struggling to keep at 75kg consistently!! For some reasons, the weight wondered around 76-77lg easily despite me keeping to the twice a week 10-12km jog!! Maybe it is because of the muscle built up due to my carrying weight routine. Some days I felt like it but some days I did not! Need to work harder in this area for sure!!;

2. Work - Delivered a pleasant surprise of Mgt190 for Motorola Taiwan folks in March 2009 and really happy with it as it always give me great pleasure and energized me whenever I shared with Motorolans!! I also did the Project Mgt programs for a client in-house and an public program (my 1st) as Singapore Institute of Mgt (SIM) in March 2009. It is a humbling experience as I worked on a few nights till 1am, 2am, and even 4am, in order to do justice to my delivery at 9am same morning!!;

3. Life - went to Beijing in Feb 2009 to meet up with Yan Lai, a long time friend from Motorola China days. He came in from San Francisco! We had a great time catching up with each others as well as other friends whom each of us have not met for a good decade! I also learned more about each other's hot buttons! I am thankful for my wife to allow me to do this when there is no work and no income!!;

4. Volunteer work - enrolled and being trained to deliver a program for the Probation Services Branch as I tried to increase my volunteer work with them. I will be delivering the1st session with the probationers and their parents/guardians in mid-April 2009! This is one way of giving back to the society!;

5. 7e Way of Leaders - it is slow moving though I am not too anxious! Sold a few books at the Meet-the-Author session in early March 2009 at the Crest Christian Bookstore again after the same session in December 2008. I am grateful to them for persisting with me. The progress in China is slow and are waiting for possibilities in May 2009.

6. Public services as a Forum Contributor - wrote to Reuter.com, McKinsey Quarterly website, and Knowledge@Wharton website, and other forums on the issues of 'greed! financial tsunami! etc'. Still using it as a way of sharpening my mind and writing skills!

7. Celebrated our eldest daughter's 21st Birthday - she is a an independent lady now (actually she has been for a good 10 years or more! ;-)) A significant personal milestone for her as well as for Haw Ngee and I as parents and those who love her!

Well, that's it for today as stopping at 7 seems like a good choice! Have a great day to all!
