There was no entry last night as I was away till very late. In fact, yesterday was a full day of activities from 10am till 12midnight!
At 10 am, I met up with some associates from the BMC (a project management training and consulting practice based in the US) for a sharing session. It is an interesting meeting of people we have Indian Indians, English, Phillipina, and Singaporeans. All of them have years of working experiences in various continents and countries and industries as projection leaders on a sponsor/owner/members capacities. I enjoyed the meeting very much and am glad to make new friends.
In the afternoon I had lunch with my wife and kids as my wife and I were attending a 5-Year Service Award Appreciation Day by the Ministry of Communities Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) around 2.15pm. The award was to recognize me for staying as a Volunteer Probation Officer (VPO) with MCYS Probation Services Branch (PSB). I felt a bit embarrassed as I did not think I had done a lot for PSB. It was an enjoyable event, especially with my wife by my side! I hope to do more for PSB in the coming years.
In the evening, my wife and I attended the wedding dinner of my buddy, Mr. Yeo Hiok Khoon's daughter. It is the period of our lives where we meet old friends at the joyous occasion of children's wedding or the passing away of some old friends! I am glad we were attending the joyous occasion! Met a few ex-Motorolans whom I had not kept in touch for almost 10 years! The good thing is we were able to pick up where we left off from last time!
Lessons for me:
1. we are no longer young! We must cherish our friends and let them know at every opportunity - sincerely and earnestly;
2. as old friends, there may not need to have very frequent and regular contacts. Whenever we meet and we can pick up where we left the last time, we are OK!!;
3. be grateful that we are still healthy and blessed with friends who are genuinely interested in your as a human being! ;-)
As I was too tired and I was going for my 1/2 marathon and a bit more on Sunday 19 October 2008 early morning. I decided to turn in without completing the blog. Hence this catch up entry today!
I will write more about today's checking out the 1/2 marathon and a bit more on Daily Lesson from Life 19 October 2008 entry later.
