LONDON - A VICAR in Wales was jailed for three-and-a-half years on Thursday for amassing a collection of more than 56,000 indecent images of children.
Police found the stash of illicit pictures when they raided Reverend Richard Hart's vicarage in Beguildy in central Wales after tracing his credit card details from websites he had visited, the Press Association reported.
Prosecutors described the find as a 'veritable Aladdin's Cave' of paedophile material. The court heard that some of the images were of girls as young as four.
'The prosecution say beneath the veneer of respectability, there lurked a perverted craving and lusting for young girls,' said prosecutor Ieuan Morris.
At a hearing earlier this month, Hart, 59, admitted 12 charges of making indecent images of children, four of taking indecent photographs of children and five of possessing such images in offences dating back to 1991."
Another indecent exposure of the men dressed in religious clothing! It is the suppression of the natural desire that brew such monsters or hypocrites that craved for respectability and yet equally strong or stronger desire for sexual fantasies?
The lessons learned for me are:
1. don't try to perform something you cannot resist naturally. Sexual desire is part of being human. So, don't wear the hat of a vicar if you still have sexual desire!!;
2. with the natural sexual desire expressed appropriately, perhaps the perverted behaviors will not have chance to develop! If you desired money and power and will do anything to get them, it will be inevitable that you will go astray if you want respectability and admiration from normal people! It won't happened!! It will only lead you to a twisted dark end!;
3. we must not blindly believed that anyone clothed in religious fashion is holy and will do the right things. Perhaps we need to be a bit skeptical or cynical whenever someone from a trusted position try to do something indecent. We don't take it on face value. Verification and validation is necessary. Until that step is taken, all bets are off.
May the Church of Wales recover from this scandal and may the vicar or ex-vicar be truly repentant about his behavior and seek help to fix his twisted mind. If it is possible. Maybe by God's grace?
p/s: The noisy Night Grand Prix of Singapore is upon us. Good luck to the drivers. Good luck to the partying folks. Just beware of accidents!
