Daily Lesson from Life 31 August 2008

It is end of August 2008. 2/3 of the year is GONE!! Very fast indeed!!

I look forward to another exciting and meaningful 4 months of 2008.

In recent weeks, the friendly Thais and the Malaysians are all in turmoils due to political upheavals and instabilities. If we want economics growth, we need to have stability before anything else can happen. In Singapore we are fortunate to have that. Though there is a price to pay. That of sacrificing individuality and diversity.

Is there an in-between the extreme of freedom for all and restraint by most?

A good idea born from one idea from one person or one group cannot be the best idea!

A good idea must come from selection from many ideas from many people and many groups. It will be more tedious and time-consuming to come to the most appropriate idea or ideas but in most situations it is a better choice.

So, the best bet for leaders are to cultivate dissents and divergent views on key topics. Let the team knows there is no rules for ideas generation but there are rules for setting the selection criteria so that there is no ambiguities or suspicion on how the most appropriate ideas are agreed upon and get implemented!

I wish that the Thais and Malaysians will find the most appropriate solutions to their unique circumstances that restore st abilities so that everyone will focus their energy on moving the nations forward for the betterment of the majority of their people.
