I missed writing the blog as I was on the way back to Singapore from Suzhou via Shanghai Pudong International Airport on 29 July 2008 night.
Thought I catch up on it today 31 July 2008!
Security for a Peaceful Event - Olympics Game!
An irony? As China entered into the pre-Olympics Game fortnight, the security has gone into the next higher level as defined by the Chinese security authority. Passengers are checked at the main entrance into the airport area and then subject to further checks inside the airport terminal area. The good thing is my flight was on 0010hrs and the airport was not very crowded.
I can imagine the scene if you have hundreds and thousands of impatience, fatigued and agitated passengers, you have a customer service nightmare on your hands!
I am not sure if the worst can happened in the coming weeks e.g. terrorists' attacks, threats to public safety. I hope not. So, in the light of these concerns, the tighter security checks are to be tolerated.
It is also realistic to know that no matter how well we plan, how well we prepared, there will be some unexpected events happening. It is then having a common principle on how to handle these exceptions will show it's power. Do the right things right! When in danger, protect the young, the aged, the weak, and the infirm.
May the people exhibit the leadership quality in a crisis.
