Missed the 1 November 2016 blog update due to an exciting and unique dinner and Chinese Tea appreciation session hosted by my buddy in Hkg! Thank you Alvin!!
While in Hkg, an unfortunate development occurred:
"Pro-independence lawmakers brawl in Hong Kong parliament - CNA 02 November 2016"
A most unfortunate development as these 2 young elected Legco members created this unprecedented 'I am for an Independent Hkg' while protesting that the CCP and PRC government, the motherland's government if you like, does not respect the '1 country 2 system' promise!
It is misplaced sense of righteousness in many rational thinking people's minds as you cannot talk about respect for the '1 country 2 system' promises when one is advocating 'independence of Hkg' which the CCP and the PRC government DID NOT sign up for!
It is a most inappropriate and disrespectful, even disgraceful, behaviours to use derogatory and expletives in the initial taking of official oath a few weeks ago. That act wins no fans even among those who advocate or lean towards 'an independent Hkg'! What good can they do if they are outside the Legco! Why bothered to contest the Legco election if they have no intention to 'fight from inside' the established system?
A missed opportunity really these 2 young elected Legco members to be in the Legco FIRST and then 'bring the issue' up. A clear lack of foresight, wisdom and strategic mind-set. Of course, it is expected given their youthfulness and the 'gung ho' attitude. That said, they now may not even be in the Legco as the PRC government is truly disturbed by this 'public and open' challenge to something it simply cannot entertain and accept!
It is a Hkg internal issue that the Hkg people will have to resolve. From a rational aspect, advocating for independence for Hkg from PRC will simply doom the Hkg SAR. Is that really what the 2 young 'almost Legco' members want for Hkg?
