What do you know! It is the last day of February 2013!! 2 months have just passed us by. Hopefully I have done something meaningful and productive in these 2 months! :-)

DHAKA: A wave of violence killed at least 21 people in Bangladesh on Thursday as Islamists reacted furiously to a ruling that one of their leaders must hang for war crimes during the 1971 independence conflict.

Sayedee, best known in Bangladesh these days as a firebrand preacher, was convicted for setting ablaze 25 houses in a Hindu village and abetting the murders of two people including a Hindu man, according to a copy of the verdict.

He led a pro-Pakistani militia who abducted three Hindu sisters and raped them for three days at a Pakistani camp. He also forced at least 100 Hindus to convert to Islam and made them say Islamic prayers.

His lawyer Tajul Islam described the verdict as "a gross miscarriage of justice", adding that Sayedee did not live in the town where the alleged crimes took place.

"It's a case of mistaken identity. We're stunned," he told AFP."

No very encouraging headline news to comment on is it?

Lessons for me are:

1. continued tension between two of the big power of Asia cannot be very good in the long term. All these gamesmanship and brinkmanship will have to absolutely perfect before it triggers an accidental war!! And war cannot be good for anyone NO MATTER what the proponents said;

2. a prominent e-commerce leader in China rejoiced that: the 'special class of rulers of China' no longer can ignore the ecological disaster that is unveiling itself as they TOO can no longer enjoy CLEAN AIR. They can have 'clean water', 'clean food', 'clean this and clean that' BUT they cannot have 'clean air' (Actually they can if they really want to. Just carry your own oxygen tanks around!! What price PROGRESS? Insanity has taken hold??;

3. when politics mixed with religion, it can be explosive and BLOODY!! Before the laws execute the 'guilty-as-charged' offenders, 17 have already died!! What irony. If the crimes committed by the 'leader' are true, there is really no justice if they were let go. A tragedy.

Sorry to close the end of February 2013 with such terrible headline news. May we look forward to a BRIGHTER March 2013!! :-):-)
